Zero-hours Reform: What Employers Need to Know Now

The Government’s current consultation on zero-hours and similar contracts will impact most employers to a greater or lesser degree, but is likely to be particularly important for hospitality and leisure businesses (and indeed any business which relies on a flexible workforce to respond to fluctuating customer demand, seasonal peaks and short-notice changes).

Proposals around guaranteed hours, shift notice and cancellation payments could therefore have a significant operational and cost impact across all sectors, but especially leisure ones. For that reason, we are encouraging employers to contribute to the consultation while there is still an opportunity to shape how the new regime will work in practice.
