The Government has announced that pubs will be automatically permitted to extend their opening hours until 1am for the semi-finals and the final of Euro 2024 if England or Scotland get through to that stage.

The announcement has been well-received by the hospitality sector although it is currently understood that it will only apply in England and Wales, with Scotland having to wait for their local licensing boards to make a decision on whether to extend hours or not.

The competition kicks off on 14th June with the semi-finals scheduled for 9th and 10th July and the final scheduled for 14th July.

As always, we will only know the specifics of the proposed extension of hours once we see the wording, and we will update further at that point.

We have a team of solicitors across a range of legal disciplines all with significant experience in supporting businesses in the leisure sector. Meet our leisure sector team to see how our team can help support you. If you wish to subscribe to our leisure newsletter, please do so here.
